Better route planning
for the Munich Food Bank's trucks
Driving around the globe, eight times - that's how far the Munich Food Bank has to drive every year. So that bread, yogurt, fruits and vegetables are not simply thrown away at the end of a supermarket-day, but are distributed to those who can simply not afford these groceries. The Munich Food Bank supports 18.000 needy per week - that's 18.000 retirees, children, homeless or those temporarily in need, suffering from hunger. Since Barkawi has optimized the route planning of the trucks, the organization can now help faster and more efficiently. Should the small bakery on the corner or large supermarkets such as Lidl, Rewe, etc. be approached first? When should chilled products and perishable goods be loaded? How can route planning be continuously improved? With Barkawi's expertise the trucks reach their destination even faster - bringing flawless food onto the tables of those, who desperately need it.
