Barkawi honors Prof. Dr. Bretzke

There was a special surprise on Prof. Dr. Bretzke's 70th birthday: a commemorative publication, which however is not a classic commemorative publication, presented by Karim Barkawi and Prof. Dr. Christian Kille in honor of the jubilarian.

Without Prof. Dr. Wolf-Rüdiger Bretzke, the logistics world would probably be different. The habilitated Business Administration and Logistics scientist influenced logistics consulting and logistics sciences like no other. On the occasion of his 70th birthday, colleagues and experts from science and industry have written a commemorative publication that is not a classic commemorative, under the guidance of Barkawi Management Consultants and the editor, Prof. Dr. Christian Kille.

Academic and "Doer"

The various authors from both research and practice in this book show that Bretzke has achieved something that very few succeed in: bridging the gap between science and industry. After his academic years, which he crowned with his habilitation in 1979, he was active for many years in various management and board level positions for various logistics services. At the same time, he always remained faithful to science. In addition to his chair of Business Administration and Logistics at the University of Duisburg (1996-2000), he also passed on his knowledge as a guest lecturer at numerous courses and in over 200 professional publications. He always incorporated this extraordinary combination of scientific and operational expertise into his work as a consultant and as Head of Supply Chain Strategy at Barkawi (2005-2013).
