Barkawi examines current status of product related services for Consumer Electronics

27. April 2010

Services for consumer technologies become more and more key for value creation and a main factor for differentiation among OEMs. A new study by Munich based Barkawi Management Consultants provides insights into current trends and backgrounds in a fast moving industry sector.

Munich – The new „3C“-study (Computers, Consumer Electronics, Communication Products) by Barkawi Management Consultants shows a snapshot of the consumer technologies industries. It describes how value chain networks are setup today and which changes they are undergoing as the product providers in this sector are increasingly offering product related services and value-add services for their devices. „The 3C market is hot. The industry is affected by an enormous innovation potential which is being realized. New products with rapidly expanding functionalities enter the market in constantly shortened periods of time and at constantly declining prices”, says Christoph Beuter, author of the survey. “This means that future differentiation is primarily possible by entering new fields of applications for products and by providing new product related services”, explains Beuter. In our new study you can read how the 3C market presents itself at the moment and how OEMs have to expand their service portfolio to live up to the new possibilities of the products. We show the major trends for product related services in the 3C arena and rate them with regard to new product introductions on the horizon.
